  Recording

Q: Could you please tell me what sort of equipment HYPERSOUND uses in its studio? As a musician, I'd love to know a little bit about the technical side HYPERSOUND!

A: Hypersound Studio (1995-still running)
in 1995 we used a Soundtracs Topaz 24 track mixer, in 2002 we changed to Tascam DM 4000 Digital Mixer that was replaced a year later by Tascam M600 see our studio section for the complete list of current gear in use.

Q: It's always been my dream to come and record a track at HYPERSOUND. Could you please give me details as to how much it would cost for me to hire out a studio for the day, also who do I contact?

A: HYPERSOUND no longer hires out its studios for private use. Instead they are used exclusively for HYPERSOUND-related projects; sorry!

Q: What studio equipment did Humphrey use back in the early days?

A: This question gets posed to us quite a lot, I only hope that the musicians out there understand what it all means!

Humphrey first Studio was called D-Line Recording Studio:

  • D-Line Recording Studio (1989-1995)

  • PC/ Atari 1040 with Cubase,

  • Mixer: Tascam M3500 32 trk

  • Multitrack Recorder: MSR 24S 1“ 24 trk

  • Revox B77 MKII ¼ “ 2 trk Master + DAT Tape

  • Sound Modules: Proteus1, Roland S-50, Roland S-550, Roland S-330, Roland U110, Roland U220, Akai S1000, M1R, div Effects

  • Keyboards: Roland D-50, PPG Wave 2.3, Korg Poly 800,

  • Oberheim Drum

the studio was also hired by other recording artist’s, radio stations, and labels who also hired Humphrey as a engineer.

Q: Can I visit HYPERSOUND’s studios?

A: In the past HYPERSOUND has been proud to show fans around its studios, however due to limited resources (both in terms of time and staff) it is no longer possible to arrange a personal visit to our studios. We greatly regret this current situation but would kindly ask you not to contact us regarding this matter as refusal often upsets or offends. We hope that you understand and respect our wishes. Many thanks.

Q: Can you please explain how the names Hypnosis & Ciber People were used - and how did Humphrey come to produce new material for them?

A: In both cases Humphrey was contacted by the record companies Zyx Music (Hypnosis) and Hotsound (Ciber People) to produce these projects. All produced songs were sub published to the mentioned companies. The Original publisher is Rona Music Publishing that is Humphrey’s publishing company.

  Artists

Q: Are there any unreleased Daylight or any other Hypersound / Humphrey recordings at Hypersound and are we ever likely to get to hear them?

A: Yes we have been recently looking through the master tapes and there does seem to be some unreleased material from Hypersound and Rona. We will check as to how we can make these available for you. We will announce this at a later time.

  New Talent

Q: If HYPERSOUND does not accept demo material, how on earth do HYPERSOUND hear about new artists? Surely there must be exceptions to this rule?

A: We learn about new artists from our scouts that pass information on to us, or sometimes from other producers. HYPERSOUND is not being awkward here. HYPERSOUND does not have the staffing resources to listen to demo tapes that are sent to us - so please do not send them. Likewise, We are unable to help anyone who sends sound files via e-mail. (Thank you for your interest though.)

  Humphrey Robertson

Q: Has Humphrey Robertson written a biography?

A: no but maybe in the future, we will see

Q: How many song’s has Humphrey recorded in his career?

A: Good Question, it must around 500 track’s / song’s (official released material)

Q: Does there exsist a Complete Discography of Humphrey’s music (as a Composer)

A: You might find such information on the internet like discogs.com, we know some fans have been asking now and again so maybe they will produce one in the future.

  HYPERSOUND / RONA Catalogue

Q: Does HYPERSOUND have any plans to re-issue any of its old Daylight albums like Dance Zone 2002, Futurespace - Ambient that are longer available in CD format?

A: We have provided these out of stock cd’s as Download (go to the download section of Hypersound) as for repressing in cd format we would need a very large demand to have these re-pressed. As for now they will be in our download shop.

The world is constantly changing, and the Internet is revolutionising the way we get our music now.
